Sawyer's Melanoma Fight

Sawyer is my 17 year old daughter who was diagnosed last June with Stage 4 internal melanoma. She went through a major surgery which included the removal of lymph nodes, part of her bladder and iliac artery. She went through 38 radiation treatment and 4 rounds of immunotherapy called Yervoy, as well as egg harvesting in hopes that later she may have children. It's been almost a year and we thought we were doing so well, when she had her PET scan in March there was a spot on her spine that concerned the doctor, with a ct guided biopsy it was confirmed the melanoma has now spread to a place near her spine. Our oncologist in Columbia Missouri has referred us to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis Missouri, and we also made a trip to NIH in Maryland. As of now she is 17 and we are awaiting her birthday because she cannot be put on a trial or any kind of research based treatment until she is 18. We do have insurance but we have to travel quite a bit and may have to more in the future and our expenses are great. As well as none of her fertility preservation was covered by our insurance even after I appealed the decision. This is a wretched disease please help us fight this battle.
