My name is Ricardo Guerrero, I am the creator of DEATH TO THE SUN festival, a free, yearly showcase of Miami's best underground live music. Since it began in 2009, it has grown to become a staple of Miami's music community, having showcased the majority of south Florida's greatest acts. In order to ensure this event's continuance and growth, I need your help!
Over the years, I have independently funded this festival with my personal income. Although I hold this event very close to my heart, this year I'm raising money to cover the costs of the festival to avoid as much personal loss as possible.
The money will be used to cover all production costs such as security staffing, maintenance, live sound/tech crew costs, promotional materials such as flyers and online advertising, backline rentals, and front of house staffing. No money will come back to me, as I do not profit off of this festival. I see it as a service to the artistic community, my contribution to this amazing place we call home. This year's show will be free (as DTTS will ALWAYS be a free event) and open to all ages!
Donations will be accepted until the day before the show: September 30th, 2016.
Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. This festival is of upmost importance to me, and I would love for it to succeed and grow. Your funding will ensure that this event continues on its path and that it stays a part of our growing community. It is more important now than ever to become involved, as our city grows and changes economically and culturally. Overall, I believe this festival needs to happen, no matter what, and I will always make sure that it lives on.
