Dear Friends and Family,
I am very pleased to share with you a life enriching opportunity that God has laid on my heart! One of the big decisions I've been facing lately has been choosing the career and schooling path for the rest of my future. I have been thinking and praying about all of my decisions, and I feel that God is calling me to get involved in YWAM's DTS (Youth With a Mission Discipleship Training School) in Denver, Colorado beginning September 29, 2014 and ending February 13, 2015.
YWAM is an interdenominational, non-profit Christian, missionary organization.The main purpose of YWAM is to "Know God and Make Him Known", and that is exactly what my heart desires to do. I want to be used by God in a powerful way to expand His kingdom and help show the world the power of his unfailing love. I feel that the Lord has placed this experience on my heart as an opportunity to grow in faith and help others grow too, and I couldn't be more excited!
DTS is a program that lasts six months, and is divided into two- three month phases. The first three months are called the "lecture phase". This phase focuses on training us to develop an intimate relationship with God, and become well aware of the cultures we will experience. The last three months are called the "outreach phase", which involves going out to another country and sharing the skills we learned in the lecture phase. The DTS I have been accepted to is called the "Young People's" DTS, which seeks to develop the hearts of people ages 17-24 in a spiritual and God-loving way. The outreach location will not be decided until after I am done with the lecture phase, so a fixed amount has not yet been determined, but depending on where we go, the approximate price is going to be around $7,500.
The most important thing you can do for me as family and friends is to pray for me as I journey through this life changing opportunity. I need prayer for discernment, strength, wisdom, direction, peace and protection. Pray for us as a team; Pray that all of our needs are met according to God's will and that His favor rests over us.
Another thing I need prayer for is financial support; for this program, I will be required to raise all of my own support by October 2014. I ask that you would prayerfully consider giving financially towards my trip; Even the smallest monetary gifts help! If you are not able to contribute at this time, please continue to be in prayer for me as I raise support. If you wish to be a part of my time at YWAM financially, you can make checks out to me personally.
