Bill Carrington's Medical Expenses

My Name is Troy Carrington. I started this Gofundme page for my parents William and Ann. More specifically for my Father Sergeant (1st Class) William E. Carrington Jr.  My father is a Veteran of 2 wars and has served in the US Army and The US National Guard from 1967 to 2010. He served in the Vietnam war and was more recently deployed to Iraq around 2005. When he returned from Iraq, he retired from the National Guard and shortly after he retired from his job of almost 30 years. He was always very active even after his retirement and loved by so many people. He was also very involved in his local Veterans chapter VVA779 where he helped other veterans and continued to serve the public. In August of 2011, not very long after his retirement(s) he suffered a massive stroke which has left him unable to walk, talk, eat and care for himself. My mother retired early from her career of almost 40 years to care for my dad 24/7. During this time, my family incurred serious medical expenses that totalled close to quarter million dollars and the expenses continue to mount. My parents were hardworking middle class people before their retirements but this unexpected expense is heavy and hard to bare for anyone. One would think that a veteran who has served his country faithfully for so many years should be free of this burden as he tries tirelessly to rehabilitate and get close to normal again.  While the goal that I have set will not completely relieve this medical debt, it will surely provide relief and allow my parents to focus on rehab and care during this time.
