My name is Frank and i am a Nasopharynx Cancer Survivor since 2006. I woke up one morning with a headache on the left side of my head in december 2005 and thought it was a hangover from the previous day drink but that headache became a severe pain in a week which was not responding to any form of analgesic..i went to all the best hospitals in Lagos, Nigeria and saw all the specialists and they all gave me different diagnoses...5 different diagnoses as it were..At a point, my neck started swelling and the doctors recommended a surgery on my neck. We did a CT scan and the result said it was a parotid tumour but the doctors disagreed as the swelling was not near the parotid but below the jaw. It was already April 2006 and i was lucky to be flown from Lagos to Johannesburg by my wife's employer, MTN NIGERIA, as i could not afford such and for that we are eternally grateful to the company....The Doctors at Muelmed Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa looked at the CT scan i did in Lagos and said the CT machine used was phased out in Johannesburg 10 years earlier. They conducted their own tests and told me it was nasopharynx cancer. I was given weeks of Radiotherapy/Chemotherapy at Muelmed hospital and Little Company of Mary hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. There are millions of people in West Africa suffering from cancer without any good Cancer hospital and experienced Oncology doctors presently. Most cancers are more often than not diagnosed as Malaria or Typhiod until it becomes late which accounts for the reason why people die from cancer daily in Africa. I am extremely favoured by God and grateful to God that i am still alive today. Nigeria which is the most populous nation in Africa with close to 200 million people can only boast of 7 obsolete radiotherapy machines with only two functioning...The funds raised here will be used to build a world class cancer specialist hospital in Nigeria, West Africa...This means so much to me as there are millions of Children , Women and Men dying everyday of cancer due to lack of proper diagnoses and treatment...This project is a save our soul initiative to help millions of people in Nigeria and will be started immediately the funds are available working together with a board that the donors here will have a representation ...I will be fulfilled and very grateful to donors here and so will be millions of people that would have passed on without this!!!!
