Hi everyone! This is my Dad, John Courville! He is battling his second round of APL Leukemia & is currently on his 7th week of arsenic chemo. He is in need of a Bone Marrow Transplant in the coming weeks & financially, its nearly impossible. We all think (including myself) that going to MD Anderson the insurance would cover everything at 100% and surely the ACS (American Cancer Society) will help with housing and what not. Well much to our surprise, none of that is true. Dad's insurance company (UHC) will continue to pay at 80% meaning every single co-payment is due before treatment & housing is NOT included. We would love to get some "fun" fundraisers together, but have little to no time to get this transplant done. His life depends on it! MD Anderson doctors want him to under go this BMT in the next 4 weeks. I have started my extensive research and have yet to find an "inexpensive" form of housing for 3 months! In fact, the cheapest is $4200.00. Unfortunately,thats not feasible for my parents. My Dad hasn't worked since early December & even before that, the hospital bills from the previous round of Leukemia were drowning them.
So thats where our family & friends come in! We are reaching out for help. MD Anderson will not schedule his BMT until they can show proof of housing for 3 months. We have had people ask where can they make a donation to help with this expense & someone told me about this website. We certainly can not thank you enough for your generous donation & more importantly your prayers and well wishes!
