2nd Annual NICU CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!

Hello Friends & Family! It's time for our 2nd annual NICU Holiday Gifts fundraising! Last year we weren't really sure what we were getting into but we knew we wanted to do something special for the Lutheran General Park Ridge, Il NICU staff that did so much for our twins and us. Not to mention the strong little babies that have to spend the Holidays in the NICU. Last year we had a goal of $2,000 as there were ~40 families in the NICU, we wanted to give their babies and the parents gifts to let them know people are thinking about them. We also included a personal hand writtten note from Meg and I, telling them our story and giving them our numbers if they ever wanted to chat. With the genoristy of friends, family and strangers, we exceeded our goal and we were able to provide all NICU babies/families the following:

We bought Breakfast for the morning NICU crew (Dinkels Donuts & Coffee) & Pizza for the night crew ✅
This year, the Garcia Family would like to continue the tradition and try and make the holidays a little bit better for those who are going to be spending it in the NICU. Most of you know our story but for those of you that don't....Chapter 1 started 3 years ago when we were going through a very hard time as our twin girls born 4 months early were fighting for their lives during Christmas and it was very difficult to get through the Holidays which is usually a time of great Joy. Gracie ended up staying 4 months and Olivia stayed 7 months at the NICU and went home on oxygen. They have some obstacles to overcome but they are home and perfect in every way.
There are currently ~45 babies in the NICU at Lutheran General. Our goal is to give the NICU family lounge a brand new medical grade couch (easily cleaned), gift cards to the parents and babies to help them get through this tough time and let them know people are praying for their babies. Additionally, we want to get the NICU staff working during Christmas breakfast and dinner. I know when Meg and I received random gifts from organizations and former NICU parents on Christmas, it made our day and it really made us feel better. It's a bond. When we opened them, we said one day we'd like to do this during the Holidays. The picture all the way of the bottom is the picture of all of us picking out gifts for the families and this picture is the morning of where the girls were held by some of her aunties as we dropped of breakfast. Later that night, we went back and delivered pizzas and pop for the night staff. It was an a amazing feeling to give back and you all helped to make it a special time! - For perspective, when we went to drop off and visit, one of the mothers was there holding our card, crying and thanked us for our generosity - it really means a lot to the parents.
We will be delivering Christmas Cheer as a family and with your help! We will ask our nurses to distribute the gifts Christmas morning. No obligations what so ever. God Bless You and Your Family!Thanks!
