Flood Relief for Denham Springs LA

Donation protected
Greetings,

26102 Shadow Brooke Ave.
 Denham Springs LA 70726

One of the hardest hit communities, some places got 8ft.and other houses fully under water. An area that usually has less than 1% chance of flooding. Thus most in the area don't have Flood insurece. Furthermore, FEMA has not been giving much r any to mot people.

I’m Eric, and I’m here to help my teammate and good friend Matt, whose house has been flooded by 4 feet of water in the recent Louisiana flooding. I’ve been working with him on a daily basis for 5+ years on a remote project through Skype, and have gotten to know him as a dedicated and intelligent graphic artist.

Matt lives with his single mom Linda, both of whom moved from Texas to Denham Springs back in 2006.  He has since earned his GED while dealing with ADHD and helping take care of his grandmother full time, who had dementia up to her passing in January 2015. They also tookcare of  his grandfather, for nearlly a decade, who had PTSD from fighting  in the battle of Normandy (D-Day).

Since the disaster, Matt and his mother have stayed and worked with their local pastor (Livingston parish)  to help house and feed 1,500+ individuals displaced by the circumstances they have found themselves in.  It’s this kind of indiscriminate caring that inspires him to continue to work, helping from 7AM to 3-4AM these days. He's rebuilding his house from the ground up. They've lost just about everything, inclding his car.

(His hand is now entirely smooth)

We’re asking for enough to make their home livable again, the fundamentals. Any extra will go towards helping their neighbors do the same. They will  provide receipts and confirmation of any assistance, no matter how small.

The Goal is a bit higher than normal, since they're doing this to help their neighbors as well. And he and others in the community will write personal thank you letters when he gets the time.

I'm communicating with him to get as detailed a list as possible, and will be updating when we are able to talk.
The main cost is insolation and Sheetrock. (which they recetly paid for)  As seen in the pictures, proper flooring is also soethg that will be eventually needed.

I've set it up so only he can withdraw funds. I've already sent him $150. ~$100 of which was used for getting  industrial strength mold remover, though I am a manager for a nonprofit in Houston TX, and don't make much myself (originally from California).

I met Matt back in the summer of 2011, when we joined a Science fiction game design project; although we have had many ups and downs throughout the years, we persisted. He became our creative director and we worked hand in hand to make our project a reality. He oversaw all art, and how all the different assets integrated into the game engine, while I oversaw  administration,  public relations, and writing, across our ~15 members.

We  diligently volunteered for our hobby, with the hope that it would one-day lead to our careers.

A quote from one of our stories exemplifies our will, strength and courage.

“For those with drive, and for those who endure, they shall be bonded forevermore.”

Our project
Thank you for your time, attention and consideration,

-Eric
