Obituary of Randall O. Mertz, Sidney, NY
Randall O. Mertz, 58, of Sidney passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
He was born January 4, 1958, son of the late Wendelin A. and Eleanor (Norton) Mertz in Sidney.
Randy graduated Sidney Central School with the class of 1976. He worked delivering fuel for Suburban Propane for many years and later in sales and service for the Mirabito Fuel Group.
Randy loved sports. In school he played football and loved to bowl, having four 300 games. He was also popular on the race track at Afton Raceway.
He loved his dogs, Brandy and Ringo and his cat, Milo
Randy was a proud father, and would dedicate his time to coach softball and baseball when his kids were younger and cheer the loudest at basketball and football games when they were older.
Randy was known for his sense of humor and his personality was larger than life. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his Daughter, Jessica Mertz, Rosedale, MD

Friends may call Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 6-9 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:00 AM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating.
