Send Graycen To Africa!

Dear Family & Friends,This past summer, I went with a handful of students from my youth group to the inner city of Philadelphia, PA. This was my first missions trip and I absolutely loved the experience! God was so evident and working not only in the ones we came in contact with, but our won hearts as well. What I enjoyed most was the humbling experience of serving others. Everyday, we would go to one of the local parks and play with the children that cam, just to share God's love with them! It was HOT & sweaty but the smiles on the kids faces were so inspiring and made it all worth while!
That week was a great time for me to step back and evaluate my motives in life. I was able to see that the world didn't revolve around my little life here in Middleville, but that there are so many people who simply need one thing - to be loved! God worked on my heart that week and began preparing me for opportunities that would lie ahead.
A few months ago, I had been praying that the Lord would open the door to another missions opportunity, if it was His will. It says in Philippians 2:13, "For God is working in you, giving you the desire to do what pleases Him." I believe that the Lord has placed missions on my heart and surely I want to please Him in whatever it may be.
One place I have always dreamt of going to is Africa. Many times I figured that there was no way that would ever happen. Recently I found out that my best friend was going to be involved in a missions trip to Kenya, Africa. When she shared this with me, she told me that the leaders of the mission trip from her church were looking for a few teens to come along and help run a Vacation Bible School. Immediately I realized: This is it! God is opening the door wide!
So, I have provided with the amazing opportunity to go on a missions trip to Africa! I can not even explain how excited I am about this trip, (it's like a dream come true)! This summer we will be boarding a plane and traveling half way across the world. We will be gone from August 1-15.
In Kenya, there is a village by the name of Mukaa. We will be visiting and working in the children's home established there. Most of our time will be spent getting to know the area and being involved in running a VBS (vacation bible school) for the orphans. We will also spend some time at the Nairobi National Park on a safari. This trip will provide an opportunity to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of a community in need. More than anything I would value your prayers for our group and those whose lives will be touched by God through us. I believe that God answers prayers, and I am asking you pray for our safety, good health, smooth travel, and financial support. Just knowing that you will be praying will give me peace as I go into this unfamiliar place. Beyond your prayers, if you are led to join me in my fundraising efforts by financially supporting this mission, I would be so grateful. I am also willing to collect your pop cans, babysit your kiddos, or collect your spare change... :) Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. I hope things are going well for you. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Graycen
