Flood Campaign - Fiserv Associate

Donation protected
My name is Ron and I work with several individuals who live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If you’ve been watching TV or reading newspapers you’re probably aware that many people in Louisiana are suffering from the devastation caused by recent flooding. I was compelled to start a campaign for a coworker affected by the devastation because like so many others, I unfortunately witnessed similar devastation caused by hurricane Sandy when it struck the New Jersey coast—where I live today with my four daughters and their families.

This particular campaign is intended to help an associate that I know and work with, Laura, who lives in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana with her husband, family and friends for many years. When speaking with Laura, she told me that in her lifetime she has never witnessed such devastation. She said that while she is truly grateful that all of her loved ones escaped physical harm, they are all emotionally devastated, and thousands of people are struggling to pull themselves together and reestablish their lives.  Many residents of Baton Rouge now have to rebuild their homes—some from scratch, and without sufficient insurance assistance.  Laura’s home was severally damaged, requiring extensive repairs and her elderly parents lost everything.

Finding comfort in knowing your family and friends escaped physical harm is certainly a blessing, and knowing you have friends, and perhaps even complete strangers that care about you is yet another blessing, one that would help many get through the most challenging times.

I am confident that Laura and the many others living in Louisiana will recover, and be even stronger from their efforts and the compassion they received. Our thoughts and prayers will help with their recovery, as will any financial assistance to help offset costs to rebuild.  This situation reminds me that humanitarian efforts like this is what brings us all together, regardless of where we live in the world, and how good things can come from bad situations. In fact I often remind my own daughters that bad situations provide the opportunity for us to do good, and we should try and use these opportunities to help others as we would want them to help us.

Please take this opportunity to offer your best wishes and prayers to Laura and the many others in Baton Rouge, and please consider making a contribution to this campaign in any amount.

Thank you, and best regards

Ron
