Appeal to help Sheffra Dzamara

Journalist turned activist Itai Dzamara has been missing for 1 year, 5 months, 22 days since his abduction from a barbershop in Glen View. All evidence points to the work of the dreaded state security agencies in Zimbabwe.
It goes without saying Itai was the bread winner for his family and that his wife Sheffra and two kids, Nokutenda and Nenyasha have been left in a difficult financial position.
While many people have in the past 541 days done their best to chip in with limited resources, including Itai's brother Patson and my own family (and many others too numerous to mention), I decided this week to speak to Sheffra and find out what her challenges are and what would be the best way to help the family.
It is obvious she cannot be receiving donations and handouts for the rest of her life so I asked how it was she can be helped to help herself going forward. From my discussions with her there are three key things she needs help with;
She wants to write her O level exams for 5 subjects next year in November
She wants to start a poultry project that will help her fend for her family
She needs help with school fees for her children Nokutenda and Nenyasha
Having told me all this I asked for a breakdown of what all this amounted to in financial terms. Below is the breakdown and explanation for what she needs;
"Will start lessons November this year and I will sit for exams November next year
For lessons $240
Registration fee $100 (for all 5 subjects)
Center fee $30
Altogether for school I need $370
Poultry project I need $407
Fees for Nokutenda and Nenyasha for this term only $340
So all in all including my fees and poultry project the total is $1 117."
To the nearest $1200 will help Sheffra Dzamara help herself. She has authorised me to run this campaign for the family.
Please remember that while the abduction of Itai Dzamara has been well publicised it has not necessarily meant people are flooding in to help his family.
Given the economic challenges this is understandable. But small donations in our huge numbers can make a big difference. Remember no amount is too small.
