Bella is a wonderful (now) 3 year old lab that ran away from her owners  8/27/13.  There were no sightings until she showed up on a hunter's trail camera in October.  At that time the owners set a trap and the husband baited and checked the trap but she would not go in.  In December she just suddenly disappeared and the worst was thought but to be sure, flyers were expanded and we waited almost a month before the next call of a sighting. Every call was followed up on and it seemed there was no pattern or circle that she was following, but each time we set out food stations, etc. to no avail.   In February we got positive sightings and came close to getting her, but again, she outsmarted us.  At this time the owners were emotionally spent and decided to discontinue the search.  It had taken its toll on them and they felt her capture was hopeless.   That was the end of February.

With the resources and equipment provided by our group "Find Toby in Pa" I have continued to follow every lead, have made many great friends along the way, all who want to see Bella safe.  Many have helped with watching my cameras, allowing me to set traps, enclosures, anything I needed to try and capture her.  My husband and I have spent many nights camping out in a property owner's garage, just hoping she would show up and finally enter our enclosure so we could bring her to safety.   Each time we prayed that that night would "be the night" but she is just too trap smart and fearful of confinement.

Bella has a history of being in a spot and then for no apparent reason, she just relocates....each time I have spent hours and posted hundreds of flyers, and lost time until the next sighting.  She seems to bore of an area and just moves on.

For the last month Bella has been coming to my food stations and 2 traps were set, hoping to finally outsmart her, but it just hasn't happened.  All previous pictures that were on the trail camera were night time shots, but she appeared on camera during the day recently and I was able to see the unhealthy state that she is now in.  She has lost a lot of fur, has several Hot spots  which I suspect are infected, fly bites all over and she is literally infested with ticks.   Her declining health could explain why she has not moved to a new location and has stayed put for a month.  She also displays a limp on her front right shoulder which I don't know if it is from being hit, or if from lyme's or possibly just a really sore hot spot/infection.

I am so very emotionally attached to this wonderful dog.  My family life has totally evolved around trying to bring this dog to safety.  Every time I received a call that someone either almost hit her or saw someone almost hit her, I cringed.  I have prayed for her safety daily.

I am very concerned for Bella's health at this point and although I have tried my best and done everything I know to possibly do, with her health deteriorating  I firmly believe that it is time to take drastic steps to bring her to safety before it's too late.  I have contacted Steve Hagey (Detect-A-Pet) and he has agreed to come this Thursday 5/29/14 and work to complete what I have not been able to do.  This could take anywhere from 3-7 days and will all be based on Bella's acceptance of the process that Steve uses.  The goal is to get her, not to rush it.  The cost for Steve's services are a minimum of $1,700 but could run more if more time is needed.  When captured, she will also need vetting immediately and that could be a few hundred dollars. 

When (and I say when because I have total confidence in Steve) she is safe and vetted, if the owners want to claim Bella and repay all costs, I promise to refund every single penny to each person that donates, but for now I need to raise the money immediately.  If not, Steve will go to the next job and I may not have the next chance to save her.

I ask you to please consider donating to a wonderful, playful, misguided pup that loves to roll in the fields, nap in the sun, play with her food dishes and hide them.....but is misguided into thinking she wants to be a free spirit...   As Steve Hagey says, as humans we know this isn't safe for her and she shouldn't be allowed to make this decision for herself......it is time for her to be safe.



This is a picture of Bella when she was safe and the other pictures are from now.  She has not lost weight because she has learned very well how to survive.  After almost 10 months she has excellent survival skills.

Please do not pass judgment on the family and no negative comments.  Until you have experienced something like this you have no idea what a family is going through.  I continued because there were still sightings and as long as there were sightings I could not give up.

We at Find Toby in Pa work hard every day to help reunite lost pets with their owners....thankfully most don't take this long and also thankfully  most are not this trap and street smart.

Bella has many people that love her and each family that she has come into contact with has fallen in love with her.  She has touched so many people and everyone agrees that she is a beautiful angel.
