To be in his space is to have been enraptured by a snap of the camera or a conversation.
To those of you who knew Antwan Minter knew what a kind-hearted, fun-loving, and generous person he was. Antwan had an ease about him that was extraordinary—an effortless calm and grace that instantly welcomed others into that ease and space of tranquility. Antwan had endless love for his family and friends which meant they had an endless source of that love and support. To know him was to laugh and and be embraced by his adoration. As put by his closest friends, "Loving Antwan was the easiest, most natural thing we've ever done."
His favorite thing in life was connecting people—friends and colleagues alike. Being that bridge of mind, body and spirit, he was able to capture that through the lens of his camera. His gift of photography helped us see the world as similar but different; light and dark; funny and serious; colorful and black and white. But his goal was to always show the bigger picture - the humanity that made us one...
The person of Antwan Minter died Tuesday, September 17, 2018 at 23:30 after three courageous battles with cancer. Though his body was 52 years old, we want to honor a spirit that lives in us all. Inasmuch, we are raising funds to help cover Antwan’s end-of-life expenses, including a public memorial to take place in New York mid-Winter, 2019.
He would be proud, yet humbled, to know that in this moment that should be about him, that we came together to share this umbrella of support with each other. Thank you for your love and generosity.
