Major Violin Repair (Soundpost Crack)

Donation protected

I am a 21 year old violinist who recently had a serious traumatic soundpost crack right through the back of the violin. About three quarters of the back panel is visibly cracked from the soundpost going through the wood. This procedure to restoring the violin is very intricate and elaborate, thus making the procedure expensive. I have gotten quotes of several violin shops in Philadelphia, Delaware County and several others and none of them have given me a price quote of under 2500 dollars. My violin is a replica from the 1600s and contains great value to me, both sentimental and monetary. I have been borrowing a friends violin for the past year and it is getting to be a hassle for me not to have my own violin for me to practice with or use for gigs. I play at churches and am a part of a chamber music trio and absolutely love playing the violin more than anything. Ideally, I would like to have this repair done before the start of summer as I am a counselor at Greenwood Music Camp. Thanks for the support!
