In June I will be traveling to Jinja, Uganda to work alongside women who are learning the shoe making trade and help children who are suffering from jiggers. (Please watch this video to learn more about this terrible epidemic).
My work with Sole Hope has been incredibly rewarding, although at times it has been heart wrenching. (For more history, read this blog article I wrote). I have known that the day would come when I would be asked to help bring medical supplies and shoe uppers (the cloth pieces cut from recycled jeans at Shoe Cutting Parties) to Jinja. My mind is ready for this trip but my heart truthfully wonders how in the world I will be able to help cut away these horrible jiggers from the flesh of children's feet. Yet- I know that I am ready to help, to comfort, and heal these little ones!!!
The purpose of this campaign is to humbly ask of my family and friends to please consider donating to my trip and partnering with us in our mission. Will you help me travel half way around the world to a remote town in Uganda? The cost of my trip is $3500.00 but I would LOVE to raise so much more. Sole Hope has a goal to bring on a full time nurse, hire a production manager and continue to meet the needs of this local community through medical clinics. All the money that I raise above the cost of my trip will go to such amazing goals!!!
