Jordan STRONG!!
My name is Ann, I am raising funds for my great-nephew Jordan! He was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia in December 17, 2014. At 8 years old, his bone marrow was no longer producing red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets; his blood cell counts were in the single digits. Over the next 2 years, Jordan's special team of doctors tried a few different medication trials, without much luck, each medication failed. In the meantime, with each fever spike and with each hospital stay, the few steps forward became steps sinking in quicksand. This boy, this brother, this son, this grandson was losing his stance to fight Aplastic Anemia. Despite these circumstances, Jordan continues to wake up every day, hopeful for the chance at a full life, by getting his weekly infusions of red blood cells, and platelets. His body depleted and unable to make these life-sustaining cells. Giving up is something Jordan does not do very well. There were a few things that could potentially cure him. 1. Suppressing his immune system to the point of his bone marrow "resetting" itself to produce blood cells. 2. Finding a bone marrow match via related or non related donor for a Bone Marrow Transplant. 3. Being approved for a clinical stem cell transplant called, Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant done at either Dana Farber or Johns Hopkins Cancer Center. Guess what.... the first 2 options have failed. We are now running with the "Haplo". He has been approved to be part of this clinical trial!! Jordan and his mom will be spending the next year in Boston for this trial. I am starting this campaign for the out-of-pocket expenses clinical trials do not cover (i.e., food, transportation, housing, and support for his siblings). Any donation is a great donation. It helps Jordan get to be where he needs to be; enjoying the rest of his life with his mother, sisters Olivia & Hailey, brother Sincere, and his extended family who love him so much. Thank you for taking the time to check out this campaign! I will be updating you along the way as the clinical trial begins in Boston.
