Anthony is a loving father to two beautiful little girls, he is a son to his mom Suzi Grotjohn, a grandson to his grandparents Chuck and Charlene Grotjohn, and a little brother to his sister (Merissa/Rissa) and a big brother to his little sister Brianna Burke. He loved working! He loved climbing trees! He loved everything about his life!
Yesterday was just a normal day for my little brother Anthony Grotjohn. He was going to work with the tree business. It was 2:51 in the after noon near 2400 South Helena CT, when Jackie got a call from a coworker saying that Anthony was hurt and wasn't moving.
Anthony was at the top of a tree (100 ft in the air) and was taking the top of the tree off, when he took off the top of the tree it started going back and forth like trees do when they are cut from the top. When it started swaying lost his grip some how and the tree was smacking him in the face over and over again.
At that moment our lives have changed forever!!
At 2:51 Jackie ( his boss) got a call saying that Anthony was unresponsive and he could not get down from the tree. 911 was called and Jackie was only a couple blocks away so she was there immediatly.
The ambulance showed up and realized they weren't able to get to him that they had to call the fire department. It was a lot of back and forth but after 2 hours they got Anthony down safely.
Anthony was than rushed to the hospital.
Anthony is in critical condition, they flat out told us that he is very lucky to be alive. He went threw a 7 hour surgery to get everything taken care.. Please bear with me as this is very hard for me to type and to keep thinking about.
Anthony had to have his left eye removed, is paralyzed on his right side, and has massive head trauma as well as a massive brain injury. They had to remove some of his brain where it wouldn't heal ( this could make it to where the comprehension part of his brain; asking for a glass of water) he wouldn't be able to do, He also had some swelling on his brain when the surgeons where in there but was able to relieve some pressure with surgery and her doing what she needed to, he has a pressure thing on the other side of his head so they can monitor that closely. As of right now we are unsure if he will be able to speak, or walk, he is in a medically induced coma so that way things can heal and he dosen't get stressed out.
The next 3-5 days are gonna tell us a lot
Regaurdless of what the outcome my brother has a long road of recovery ahead of him, he is gonna be needing help for so many things. Anthony does not have insurance. So this is where the GoFund me comes in. If you can not donate in this time we completely understand but a share and prayers go a very long way and we would be so very grateful!!
I will update as much as I can! But please understand our family is going threw a lot right now and need time to process this accident and to focus on getting Anthony better.
