Support for Christy Brown

Donation protected
A sweet, precious family has recently lost their husband and daddy.

Ian Brown was released from his suffering after more than a three-year battle with leukemia on Sunday, April 17, 2016. You can read more about his valiant battle here: http://bewellian.blogspot.com/

His wife, Christy, wrote these words on the day he died:

"Ian went Home peacefully this morning, surrounded by friends singing in worship. The suffering is over for him, finally and forever. He's smiling brighter than ever now. But we will sure miss him."

I have been in awe of the many stories of generosity, faith, and courage Ian has displayed in his lifetime. Their friend, Rachel Ford, described Ian as a "Jesus devotee, scuba diver, dancer, philosopher, excellent drink mixer, programmer, father, husband, incredible friend." She went on to describe Christy as "the mighty, fragile woman whose very soul is a poem, who has shown us what grace truly is." Christy has endured mighty acts of courage as she has led her family through this journey.

Christy, and their two young daughters, plan to hold a memorial celebration in May in Santa Cruz, CA. Her strongest desire is to bring two of their closest friends, Chinua and Rachel Ford, to be by their side. Chinua would then be able to lead the service. Chinua & Rachel, who live in Thailand, do not have the resources to purchase the tickets themselves. In order for Rachel to come, they will probably need to bring their youngest of five children with them.

I am working with others from The River Church Community to raise enough money to buy Chinua & Rachel three round-trip plane tickets from Thailand to California. We expect each ticket to cost around $1000-$1500. Any left-over money will be used by Christy to cover burial expenses.

Thank you for reading this and please consider making a donation. Every dollar raised is greatly appreciated. Every prayer lifted up is a gift in itself.

Blessings,
Molly Meyer, a friend to the family
