Diana's Recovery

Donation protected
Our friend, Diana Sanchez was in a car accident on August 10, 2016. She suffered bilateral intra-articular distal radius fractures on both of her wrists including lacerations in her right arm. She is scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday August 16, 2016 to perform bilateral wrists open reduction internal fixation.

At a point of her life where she is transitioning to further her education as a fine arts/illustration artist at California State University of Long Beach in the Fall of 2016, she is facing the possibility of not attending CSULB for financial and health reasons.

As a person who has been patient with her status and struggle as an undocumented womxn and student in the U.S., we believe this unfortunate event has made it more difficult for her to continue and pursue her goal, as she once mentioned to me, "to create a visual language rooted in cultural resistance and personal regeneration" where she defies the belief of art being a person's choice to conform to poverty, a career that is not taken seriously by many.

Diana has devoted her time to the community while working for Buford Elementary School in Lennox as a L.E.A.P. Enrichment Leader and now currently as a Counselor's Assistant. She loves her community and aspires to create a voice that empowers Lennox's youth and mujxres.

As family, friends, collective members, loved ones, and community members, we want Diana to have a quick recovery to continue her personal goals she has spoken about, drawn, and shares with the community of Lennox.
