This is my son, Andrew McWilliams. Most people know him as "Drew". He is 32 years old and has 2 beautiful daughters. He also has lymphoma.
He got his first diagnosis at the age of 19, and after chemo & radiation, was in remission for almost 3 years. When it came back, he underwent extensive, high-powered chemo, radiation, and a stem-cell transplant. They said the proceedure guaranteed him 96% that it wouldn't come back. Last week, after 9 years of living cancer-free, we learned that it IS back. Not only that, but he was fired from his job this morning. His insurance will be cancelled by the end of the month.
Not only is he looking at medical treatments for his returned lymphoma, but he has a house payment, utility & grocery bills, and child support. If he does manage to find another job soon, any insurance it may provide will not take effect for 90 days, and even at that, they surely will not cover a "pre-existing condition", especially cancer.
He is devastated right now. We all are. We will do all that we can to make sure that he keeps a roof over his head, has food to eat, and gets the care he needs to fight this battle yet again. We have NEVER even thought about asking others for assistance, and we all realize that times are hard... for everyone. But every little bit can help make a difference.
Travel money for gas to doctor's appointments, co-pays for treatment & office visits (until his insurance runs out), and full payments after that, as well as attorney's fees to help fight getting his job back.
We appreciate everyone's efforts in advance, and would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers as well.
