Brannigan's to Paralympics in Rio

Donation protected
We are Edie and Kevin Brannigan.  Our son, Mikey Brannigan, is an autistic para-athlete going to Rio de Janeiro this September to compete in the 1500 meter in the T20 (Intellectual Disability) Paralympics for USA on September 13th.

Mikey was diagnosed with autism at 18 months old.  He did not speak until he was 5 years old.  He started running at 7 years old with a handicapped running club called Rolling Thunder Special Needs Running Club.  Running profoundly changed his life.  He made so much progress academically, mentally, and socially after he started running.  He ran track & field and XC for Northport High School.  He has the New York State High School 2 mile record and has broken the 4 minute mile with a time of 3:57:58.  He is a 6 time All American.  He could not run in college because of his disability, so he instead focused on competing for Team USA.  He has been training so hard and is the favorite to win the gold in Rio.

Kevin and I, and Mikey's personal coach are trying to get to Rio to watch our son in his first Paralympics.  We are so proud of all of our son's accomplishments in life and on the track, and we are so grateful for all the support that Mikey and our family have received along the way.  It is a far greater expense to go to and stay in Rio than we ever anticipated, and it would be heart breaking to have to miss it.  We love him so much.  Thank you so very much for any help you can give us.  Peace and Love, Edie and Kevin Brannigan
