Michael Smith's Stroke Recovery Fund

Donation protected

Michael Smith suffered a major, near-fatal stroke on January 2nd. At that time, doctors said that he only had a 50% chance of even making it through neurological surgery, but he fought through the odds with his determination to survive this ordeal for his wife, friends, and family. And although Michael is in the process of making a remarkable recovery, he still cannot move the entire right side of his body and has diminished speaking ability.

But, after weeks and months in ICU and medical care facilities, Michael has gone from a breathing tube, to breathing on his own, to eating solid foods, and now, he is ABLE TO SPEAK! And we know how much Michael likes to talk! He has fought to regain the ability to say simple words like "yeah", "okay", "you know", and of course, "Cori" (his wife's name).

You may wonder, why would those words be the first out of his mouth? Because, really, that's just the type of guy Michael is:

- Positive.

- Always willing to say "yeah" and "okay" to anyone who asks for his help or time.

- Someone who always teaches and mentors others by methodically starting his teachings with "you know"... and ending with confirmation that now, YOU also know.

Michael is the embodiment of kindness and love. He has the unique ability to be friends with a complete stranger in a moment's time, and instantly makes everyone feel welcome and understood. Michael is always compassionate and giving to everyone; genuine and caring; and truly the nicest guy that you could ever meet.

Currently, Michael is participating in a more aggressive, "boot camp" style rehabilitation program to improve his speech and regain use of the right side of his body. Even though Michael knows that this physical therapy will be extremely grueling and intense, Michael is determined to walk out of the rehab center ON HIS OWN TWO FEET!

However, the road ahead is VERY difficult. It will not be easy mentally, physically, or financially for both Michael and Cori. While they continue to fight and stay strong, you can help Michael and Cori directly by donating to this fund. With your aid, these funds will help pay for Michael's medical rehabilitation, as well as basic living expenses, so he can focus on his therapy and getting back on his own two feet.

Please join us - help Michael win this fight, so that he can come home to where he BELONGS.
