Success Camp for Haitian Immigrants

Hey everyone!
Last summer I got a grant from the Duke University to create a summer camp for Haitian immigrants who are new to the American school system. The camp focused on cultural differences between American and Haitian culture and how those differences would play into learning in the classroom. I had representatives from the community and school system come in and speak to the students about how they should prepare for testing and success in the St. Lucie County School System. This summer I wanted to continue the camp and incorporate workshops for career development and college exploration. The students that attended the camp last year would be returning as campers as well as other students entering high school this coming school year. Many of the campers made the honor roll and joined academic clubs in their high school after attending the camp. I hope that you help by donating for us to continue the work we started last year!
This year the camp will incorporate the arts. At the end of the week the students will perform in a talent show in which they use their artistic talent to describe their experience as young immigrants. The camp will take place from August 5-11*.
