As so many of you already know, our sweet Brielle Elise Perry was born with Down Syndrome in October 2011. Despite that challenge, she has been a light in the lives of everyone who knows her, and her medical condition has been excellent, with few major concerns thus far.
Sadly, Brielle was diagnosed with AML-M7 Leukemia on April 5, 2013 after a round of relatively typical blood work, and will be enduring chemo treatments at Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, TX for the next 7-10 months. This diagnosis came as a shock to everyone. Although it's going to be a long road to recovery, Brielle's type of cancer is treatable and she will survive after months of aggressive chemo treatments. Therefore, Stephanie and Ryan will be working hard to maintain as much of a normal schedule for their five-year-old daughter Reese as possible, as well as be there with Brielle everyday.
As you know, Stephanie and Ryan Perry are two of the most positive, selfless, uplifting people with an optimistic attitude no matter what they endure. Thus far in their journey with Brielle, they have shown the kind of strength that not only inspires people, but also changes their own perspective on life. Therefore, they have such an amazing support system through their wonderful friends and family, and I know so many of you are looking for ways to help. After many conversations with them, and after letting them settle into Cook's and getting Brielle started with her first chemo treatment on April 6, 2013, we've decided a general fundraiser is the best avenue to begin offering our support.
Give if you can, and please continue to pray for their strength and endurance through 2013!
I've included a list of the additional costs the Perry's are already enduring, as they begin to juggle one parent living at the hospital with Brielle, and the other trying to maintain a normal schedule for Reese.
PARKING
Parking at the hospital is $5/day per car
GAS
Since the hospital is an hour and ten minutes away from the Perry's home, the cost of gas daily is a huge additional cost for their budget.
CHILDCARE FOR REESE
Additional childcare costs for Reese to attend preschool for longer hours during the day
DAILY MEALS
Daily meals for the parents staying with Brielle are not covered, and are being purchased out of pocket for breakfast, lunch and dinner
MEDICAL COSTS
Additional medical costs for a 7-10 month stay in the hospital
Stephanie and Ryan are not the type of people to ask for help, and I am sure they would never ask for donations. So, we're doing it for them! I know they would want to express their gratitude and send their thanks to everyone praying for them and sending your positive energy their way.
Funding goes directly to them, and they will apply it to their greatest costs throughout this experience.
