Rebuilding after a series of hate crimes
Hello,
I am raising funds for my business after a shocking series of hate crimes directed at myself and my business.
At the end of September 2021 my business fell victim to vandalism. My food truck (Rollin Roots) was burglarized and vandalized multiple times. Throughout the ordeal I’ve had my power chords cut, my office and truck broken into and items stolen, there was a noose hanging from the door to my office, and finally on October 3rd my truck was burned down from what has now been determined to be an electrical fire. The police are in the middle of investigating at this time with no suspects for the vandalism.
This has been extremely difficult for me as a small black business owner who doesn’t have access to funding sources that are typically available, this entire business I’ve built from my savings, smart business decisions, and a few grants, which have been the only things that I have to rely on to stay afloat besides the consistent support from our local community. I just signed the lease for a new restaurant location to expand my business and the truck was going to be instrumental in supplying revenue to purchase the needed equipment and remodeling, as well as to keep the business afloat as there were going to be many costs over the course of the next few years that I would not be able to cover without the help of the profits from the food truck. Now I have a new location that I have no idea how I’ll be able to open, and no income from our food truck.
The funds will be used to open the location, put a down payment on a new food truck, and keep our restaurant afloat. I will take the time and focus needed in order to ensure this is done properly and I do not stretch these funds too thin because it is going to take a lot.
This help would be so amazing to allow me to continue and I will operate in whatever capacity I must in order to make this all work out!
