Brain Surgery for Erica Lohmeyer
Donation protected
Please help my brother Dan, his wife Erica, and their baby girl! In May 2016, following a complicated pregnancy and delivery, Erica was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease after suffering multiple strokes and TIAs. Moyamoya is a rare, progressive disease which causes severe narrowing of the vessels in the brain. Surgery is the only viable option for treatment, and since Moyamoya disease affects only about 1 in every 2 million people, there are only a handful of surgeons in the country capable of performing the required surgery. Erica will need to have a bypass surgery on each side of her brain, and will either be going to Boston or Stanford University for surgery. Dan will have to take at least 6 unpaid weeks off from work to care for Erica and 3 month old baby Emaline while Erica recovers from her two surgeries. This fund is to help cover the costs of travel, medical expenses, and mostly to give Daniel the ability to take the time he needs off from work to care for his family. Thank you for your support! For more information on Moyamoya:
