Snickers TPLO Recovery Fund

Hi Everyone! My name is Snickers and I am a 7 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. I love my mommy and daddy, and will meet my little brother/sister soon. Don't let my age fool you I have the spirit and personality of a puppy. My mommy and daddy found me at a shelter in Yonkers, NY and took me home within 5 minutes of meeting me (it was my awesome personality). I am super curious and lost my left eye when I was little, because I went into some bushes. Last Friday I went running after a squirrel and hurt my leg really bad. I had surgery (TPLO) today 4/4/13 to fix my right hind leg and I did really good. Please help me in anyway you can, so I don't have to pay my mommy and daddy back so much. :-)

P.S.Here is a little paragraph that Yonkers Animal Shelter wrote about me when I was looking for a home...

Snickers is a female AmStaff mix at Yonkers Animal Control. She is good with other dogs and is spayed, vaccinated and ready for adoption. She was found by Deputy Animal Control Officer Marcus in a park with a severe eye injury. When he found her, she had a stick in her eye and the eye had to be removed. She is a sweet dog that walks nicely by other dogs and loves to play. She has been waiting for a home for a long time, I think, if my memory serves me correct, she has been at Yonkers for two years waiting for a home. That is too long. Snickers will likely need to be crated when she is adopted at first so that she gets into the routine of living in a home. I do not get the impression this pet would be destructive, but there could be housebreaking accidents as she learns your daily schedule. She is really a shelter favorite here. She ignores all the other dogs when they act up and maintains her cool, even tempered personality. I tell everyone, when looking for a bully, look for the dogs that are true breed ambassadors, Snickers is a great example of a sweet bully your neighbors will not be afraid to live near. She is also not barky - so I would guess an apartment or condominium would be fine. Call Yonkers Animal Control at [phone redacted]. The Shelter is located at 120 Fullertown Avenue, New York and is about 40 minutes from Trumbull.

This is a narrative from the kennel staff at Yonkers: poor Snickers has been here for over a year and is only 2 years old..She first arrived as a stray puppy with an eye injury...As you will see from her video she is very dog friendly and she also like the kitties-and of course she LOVES humans......Does she have to keep living behind a cage ? She deserves better ...All she asks is the to be allowed to share her love with a family she can call her own..Could that be yours ? Snickers weighs about 45 lbs
