patenting the rEvolution drums

My name is Josh Grbinick, I build experimental musical instruments as 101 Percussion , and I'm the inventor of the rEvolution drums.
Last year I took the risk and filed for patent pending status for my dual body drum design. This gave me one year to promote my design to the public with intellectual property protections granted by the patent pending. However, after that year is done you must file for full patent status or sacrifice intellectual property rights altogether--meaning anyone can make your invention.
With two failed attempts at crowdfunding campaigns, I was not able to complete the full patent due to lack of funds. However, another option I can take is by filing for international patent status. This is about a quarter of the cost, and essentially extends my patent pending protections by 18 months .
