I am well on my way to foster/adopt siblings!
I am working through an agency called ASSK - which is primarily for older kids, siblings, and/or kids that are harder to find homes for.
I'm already well on my way and I've passed my first orientation, my extensive interview, the first home visit, and the application process! They have yet find any red flags ;)
The matching process can take anywhere from one month to 15 months - no rhyme or reason for the timing of the matching process. That said, I'd like to be ready by May 15th.
Going back and fourth with different fundraiser ideas, I came up with this website along with throwing a celebration party in the summer as a giant "Thank You" for those who support - financially and/or with words of wisdom!
This is a break down of how I added up to my goal amount:
$2,800 - For my Housing Project - I am adding a bedroom to my apartment. My dear friend Chris (and landlord) will be donating his time for this project, but he will hire some help and we need supplies.
$2,000 - For Furniture and Start up Supplies - bunk beds, dresser, desk, bathroom supplies, toys, etc.
$2,200 - Savings for 6 Week Family Leave Time, which is highly suggested to take when the kids are going through transition. The state will pay for a % of my leave from work.
I am excited about this journey! I have processed and prayed on this life decision for some time. I know that the children in my future will be able to thrive in the same loving community I am fortunate to be a part of.
