The Street Dog Project
We are the same dedicated and experienced people you've seen rescuing the street dogs and helping our communities for years but now we are operating under a new name!
The majority of our team has worked together in the past so in the spring of 2016 we decided to 'get the band back together' as our passion for saving street dogs was still going strong and we're really excited that we formed The Street Dog Project.
Mission statement:
"Empowering communities to reduce the homeless pet population through rescue, education and outreach."
We set a goal of saving 50 dogs in 2016 but are happy to report that in just four months we've already saved 34 lucky dogs!
We are off to a great start but are finding that our hearts are a bit bigger than our piggy bank so are setting up this fundraiser to help with expenses for the dogs currently in our care and to enable us to be in financial position to save more street dogs.
The majority of the dogs we help have beyond basic medical needs. So far we've taken in several dogs that are heartworm positive and it costs hundreds of dollars to treat each dog. We've also had dogs with mange, leg injuries, eye injuries, URI, parvo and one who had been shot.
We are extremly thorough in vetting and our dogs receive top notch care. Many had a rough start to life and we work hard to heal them both physically and emotionally.
TSDP is comprised 100% of volunteers so your donations go directly towards the care of the dogs. Our biggest expense is vet care and we also have a few dogs in boarding. We find dogs faster than we can recruit fosters and a few of the street dogs on our radar were picked up by animal services so we then hustled to get them out of the full shelter and they're currently in boarding awaiting foster or forever homes.
We feel very fortunate to have saved 34 awesome dogs so far and look forward to saving many more! We are extremely grateful for your support and hope that you'lll donate and play a key role in helping more dogs experience how great life is off the streets!
**The first $5,000 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 by a few anonymous donors so your donation will go twice as far and that means our overall goal is $15k!
