My name is Aleesha Herring and I am Arnold Ron Coates niece. Arnold was tragically killed on Friday June 29th, 2016 by a hit-and-run vehicle that was eluding police while he was mowing his mothers front lawn in Newport News, VA.
The event that transpried has left the family devestated and at a loss for words at this time. At this time the family is seeking out assistance with funeral costs and burial expenses. The family has contacted Veteran Affairs but was advised that funeral and burial costs are not covered.
My Uncle was a great man who touched many lives all over the world. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army who served for 20 years and recently completed 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as an Airborne Paratrooper and Military Police (MP). Arnold leaves behind a son who was a great part of his life. My Uncle was a gentle giant with a big heart. He was always smiling and always looked at the world with love and compassion all while making others smile through jokes or just being a good friend. Any assistance and donations given will be greatly appreciated by our family. Thank you in advance.
