For those of you that know me and my family personally, you know that my mother,Heidi, has always been a strong, independent, and driven woman.About five years ago my mom became ill with a disease called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, also known at CRPS/RSD. She was a successful entrepreneur and was my role model, but due to the severity of this disease, she has been unable to work and support her growing medical expenses.
This is a degenerative, chronic neurological disease that is ravaging her system and making her basically bed ridden. She has progressed to Stage Three RSD and it has spread from her right arm, to all her extremities and is now also in her torso. She is in constant neurological pain, all over her body, these symptoms include (but are not limited to): burning,sensitivity to temperature and barometric pressure changes, stabbing feelings, inflamed joints and extremities. She has also suffered from skin ulcers, loss of bone density and because of this consistent pain she barely has the use of her legs, cannot grip things with her hands and can't really be touched.
There are no treatments that will cure RSD, just procedures that can make her more comfortable, however right now I can't afford to pay for them. She takes several different narcotic prescriptions (morphine, gabapentin, norco, Oxycontin) that help keep the pain more manageable. But, with this lessening of pain come severe and debilitating side effects such as: lesser functioning immune system, confusion, impaired speech, trouble chewing/ swallowing, sleep problems, shallow/shortness of breath, severe weakness, trouble balancing, and seizures.
I am asking for donations so that I can afford to pay for: nerve blocks that will decrease her pain more permanently (each of these procedures cost a few thousand dollars), prescriptions, doctors visits, physical therapy, and other medical expenses that may come up.
It is really hard to see someone you love so much, hurt so badly, and not be able to do anything about it. I would so love to be able to hug my mom and not have her cringe from the pain it caused her. Or even to just be able to touch her without it hurting. Any donation to help her quality of life, big or small would be so appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
