Please help our growing capoeira school move into it's own space! Our small, grassroots community of capoeira students has been working hard, and over the last three years we have grown from a small club of under 10 students to a thriving training academy of over 40 full-time students.
Change is Growth
It's time for us to build a space of our own to move into! Moving into our own space will allow us to offer more classes, accommodate all levels of students, and importantly, to develop a children's capoeira program based on the many positive values and virtues found in the art of capoeira. With adult classes pushing 30 students in our rent-by-the-hour space, we are reaching our capacity and need to grow and change to better serve our students.
Our goal is to move into our own space early this summer! There are many costs associated with start-up in a new space: space preparation (flooring, installing mirrors, painting and finishes), advertising, etc. Help with these costs will allow us to continue providing affordable capoeira classes to those living in the Twin Cities area.
Omulu Capoeira Guanabara of Minnesota specializes in the instruction of the Afro-Brazilian art of capoeira. Capoeira evolved as a resistance art to slavery roughly 500 years ago in Brazil, and combines elements of martial arts, dance, acrobatics, physical conditioning, culture, and music. We aim to provide high-quality capoeira training at an affordable price. We focus on maintaining a friendly and creative fitness environment, so that the many wellness benefits of capoeira are accessible to all people regardless of age, experience, and background. Monitor Coruja (James Lynch) and Vespa (Jenny Johnson-Blanchard) lead classes for all levels and ages of students.
***Any size donation makes all the difference, and is appreciated so much!*** Please consider making a contribution so our school can continue to grow and share the exciting experience of capoeira!
