Iris Rosas necesita tratamiento para cáncer de seno

La profesora Iris Rosas ha dedicado su vida a formar profesionales por más de 40 años en la Universidad Central de Venezuela. Iris fue diagnosticada recientemente con cáncer de seno. Hay que remover su seno izquierdo completamente lo antes posible para evitar el esparcimiento del cáncer al resto de su cuerpo. Lamentablemente su seguro venezolano de profesor jubilado no cubre los costos del tratamiento del cáncer. Iris necesita de su colaboración, por más pequeña que sea, para recibir la ayuda médica (detalles abajo).

Anfang Juli 2022 wurde bei Iris Rosas Brustkrebs diagnostiziert. Die Ärzte empfehlen, die Brust vollständig zu entfernen und diese Operation so bald wie möglich durchzuführen. Damit soll vermieden werden, dass der Tumor streut und weitere invasive Behandlungen wie eine Chemotherapie notwendig werden. Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt wissen wir allerdings nicht, ob sich ggf. bereits Metastasen gebildet haben. Im Rahmen der OP zur Brustentfernung werden Proben der Lymphknoten entnommen, um zu prüfen, ob und inwieweit der Krebs gestreut hat. Auf jeden Fall werden voraussichtlich auch nach einer erfolgreichen OP nachfolgende Behandlungen wie bspw. Bestrahlung notwendig sein.

Leider deckt die Versicherung von Iris dies nicht ab. Hintergrund ist die desaströse wirtschaftliche Lage in Venezuela, verbunden mit einer ebenso schlechten Lage des Gesundheitssystems. Die Inflation ist seit Jahren schwindelerregend hoch, die heimische Währung ist kaum mehr etwas wert. Daher werden viele Produkte und Dienstleistungen inzwischen in Dollar verkauft – u. a. auch im Gesundheitswesen. Die Rente, die Iris nach ihrer mehr als 40-jährigen Arbeit als Universitätsdozentin erhält, ist allerdings nicht an die Inflation angepasst. So kommt es zu einer Situation, die für uns in Deutschland kaum vorstellbar ist: Während die Operation zur Entfernung der Brust und die nachfolgenden Behandlungen viele Tausend Dollar kosten, beträgt die monatliche Rente von Iris gerade mal ca. 250 Dollar. Und absurderweise werden die Kosten für eine derart grundlegende, lebensrettende Behandlung nicht von ihrer Universitäts-Krankenversicherung übernommen, sondern müssen privat gezahlt werden. Die Kosten der Behandlungen belaufen sich voraussichtlich auf etwa 20.000 $.

Daher haben wir uns dazu entschlossen, Freunde, Verwandte, Bekannte, Kollegen und gerne auch deren Bekannte um Unterstützung zu bitten. Wir freuen uns über jede Spende, egal, in welcher Höhe. Und wir freuen uns darüber, wenn Ihr Iris in Eure Gebete miteinschließt.

Help Iris Rosas receive treatment for breast cancer

Iris Rosas has dedicated her life to training professionals at the Central University of Venezuela. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of July 2022. The doctors recommend the complete removal of her breast. The surgery must be performed as soon as possible to avoid cancer spreading to other parts of her body. At this point, we do not know whether metastasis of the cancer cells has already occurred. During the operation, samples of the lymph nodes will be taken for biopsy to study the spread of the cancel. Further treatments will likely be needed for her recovery.

Sadly, her public university insurance does not cover the surgery or further treatment costs. Twenty years ago, it would have covered this type of cancer treatment and more. The reason behind it is the terrible economic situation of Venezuela combined with an equally horrible condition of the health care system. Inflation has been astronomically high for several years; the national currency has almost no real value. For this reason, products and services are often offered in dollars, including health care services. But Iris’s pension as a senior professor at one of the best Venezuelan universities is not adjusted for inflation. All this results in an unimaginable situation for many professionals worldwide: While breast removal surgery costs several thousand dollars, Iris's monthly university pension after 40 years of teaching and researching is only about 250 dollars. It is absurd that her health insurance (for public university professors) does not cover the cost of such a fundamental and life-saving treatment; instead, it must be paid from her wallet. Her breast cancer treatment costs are estimated to be around $20,000.

We have decided to reach out to friends, family, and colleagues, as well as their close friends and family, in the hope of gathering support for Iris.

Ayudemos a Iris Rosas recibir tratamiento para el cáncer de seno

A comienzos de Julio, Iris fue diagnosticada con cáncer de seno. Su seno izquierdo tiene un Carcinoma que viene creciendo rápidamente y en consecuencia se requiere extraer el tumor para que no siga expandiéndose. Deben realizarle una Mastectomía completa y su peritaje ante su posible extensión hacia los ganglios linfáticos.

Lamentablemente, la profesora Iris Rosas no cuenta con seguro médico que respalde esta operación y tratamientos consecutivos. Hace 20 años atrás, el seguro médico que ella recibe como profesora de la Universidad de Central de Venezuela hubiese cubierto este tratamiento y mucho más.

Quienes viven en Venezuela saben que los tiempos han cambiado y hoy en día los profesores universitarios jubilados no cuenta con un buen seguro que cubra este tipo de gastos médicos. El trasfondo de esto es la terrible situación económica de Venezuela en combinación con las condiciones decrépitas del sistema de salud. La inflación ha sido astronómicamente alta por varios años; la moneda nacional casi no tiene valor. Por esta razón, los productos y servicios son ofrecidos en dólares comúnmente. Pero ni la pensión ni el seguro de Iris, como profesora jubilada de una de las mejores universidades en Venezuela, han sido ajustados a la inflación. Todo esto resulta en una situación inimaginable para muchos profesionales alrededor del mundo: mientras que la cirugía para remover el seno cuesta varios miles de dólares, la pensión universitaria mensual de Iris después de 40 años de docencia e investigación llega sólo a los 250 dólares. Es absurdo que su seguro de salud para profesores universitarios del sector público no cubra los costos de un tratamiento tan fundamental para salvar vidas; y que por el contrario ella deba pagarlo de su propio bolsillo y ella no lo tiene. Su tratamiento para el cáncer de seno se estima en un monto cercano a los 20.000 $.

Por esta razón hemos decidido solicitar el apoyo de familiares, amigos, y colegas, y también sus personas cercanas. Pedimos, en la medida de sus posibilidades, su colaboración por pequeña que sea, cualquier aporte o suma para lograr que iris reciba el tratamiento médico necesario. Y recibimos por sus oraciones para Iris, sin importar en que parte del mundo se encuentren en este momento.

Queremos ver a Iris lo más pronto posible, recuperada para que pueda continuar con su vida y llenar de alegría a quienes la rodean.
