Back-to-School – School Supply Needs
School Specialty and the United Way of Richland County are teaming up to help kick start your back-to-school shopping with a great new community crowdfunding campaign! We know the need in our community is great and that student supply lists continue to grow, and educators are all too often spending their own money to meet the basic supply needs of their students in need. That’s why we are excited to help engage our community members to raise money for the Spanish Immersion Elementary School to meet these needs!
The Spanish Immersion Elementary School opened in the fall of 2008 with a kindergarten class of 13. After an additional grade was added each subsequent year, the school now has an enrollment of about 160 in kindergarten through sixth grade. Students learn the same core subjects as students in the other elementary schools, but instruction and student responses are in Spanish. The Spanish Immersion School enjoys strong support from the parents who actively participate in the school’s success. As an urban school district, Mansfield City Schools serves a diverse student population of approximately 3,600. The district's poverty rate is 84 percent, as measured by the number of free and reduced-price lunches provided. Many of the students will benefit greatly by donations which would allow the purchase of backpacks, pencils, notebooks and other school supplies.

For every $100 raised through this campaign, School Specialty will match with $100. At the conclusion of the campaign, School Specialty will match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000 in merchandise credit.
