Gardar, ND Township Hall

Donation protected
About three years ago, a small group of Gardar Township community members took a hard look at our township hall, and debated if it should be torn down, or perhaps patched a bit to give it a couple more years of life.  It was a close call either way, but the decision to keep it around a while longer was made.  Not long after, questions were raised of what it would take to do it right and keep this more than 100-year old building around for many more generations.  That small group conversation quickly grew, financial donations started arriving, and volunteers appeared whenever needed.  It has been an amazing project to watch grow and reach the stage we have reached.

Today the hall is on a new foundation, is structurally strong, and supports a new roof, siding, windows and doors.  It’s a place we are very proud to have as part of our community.  Multiple requests have already come our way to rent the facility for their family or community event.  There just one problem – kitchen and bathroom facilities are not part of the hall.  The community has again gathered to discuss needs, desires, and options.  We have decided to build a small building that will house basic kitchen facilities, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, and a space for utilities.  It will sit on Main Street and connect to the hall through a short hallway, providing wheelchair access and a fire barrier between the two buildings.

Completion of this last stage of our restoration project will continue to be done through the work of volunteers, donations, and fundraising efforts.  Your support of this project  is greatly appreciated to help us build a strong foundation for not only the building, but for the community growth in years to come.
