Valerie's cancer fund

Valerie Venck Ekblad has been fighting uterine cancer since end 2013. Despite some rounds of chemotherapy that appeared successful, her most recent treatment was unsuccessful and recent tests show that the cancer has spread to her pleura, her skin and bones. She is now so weakened that on most days she cannot sit up in bed or walk without assistance. She often can't eat and can't sleep. Valerie's insurance will not cover holistic care, which is the only treatment remaining to her that provides some hope, and her personal savings are nearly depleted. Donations to this fund will go directly to Valerie to defer the cost of her continued care.

Valerie is fighting her cancer for the sake of her two children, Jules (18 years old, who just graduated from high school) and Leyna (16 years old). Valerie’s husband and Jules and Leyna’s father, Rob, was lost to brain cancer in 2007 making Valerie a single parent. Now Jules and Leyna not only face the prospect of losing their other parent, but also of inheriting any medical debt that might be incurred to cover Valerie’s treatment.
