Kerala Flood Relief

My name is Mohammed Saleem Padinharkkara and I am a resident of Waterloo Ontario. I am an IT consultant, working in the banking sector and am a native of Kerala and I would like to bring to your notice the unfolding disaster in Kerala.
The unprecedented rain in Kerala has caused extensive damage to the daily lives of its citizens. Large parts of the state was submerged for days, and the receding floods have damaged houses and other basic necessities. About 100000 people are living in camps right now, and there is no letup in the rains so far. People who returned from the camps are coming back to muddy floors, dirty wells and dirty clothes. A group of well-meaning malayalis in Canada, are joining together to fund raise from the North American Malayali community in order to provide to the various organizations who are working on the ground and providing basic necessities to the affected people. The organizations we have currently involved and working with are as follows: Hira Welfare - http://hirawelfare.org This is an NGO that is running out of Bangalore and did great work during the Chennai Floods. They specialize in post-disaster long term rehabilitation. Santhwanam - https://www.facebook.com/hridayasanthwanam/ This is a Calicut based NGO that have been helping the people in Wayanad district with basic necessities. C4TN - This is a group of individuals who came together for the Chennai floods and are using that expertise to help the relief efforts in Kerala. They procure materials directly from manufacturers at low prices and provide kits to relief camps. We are also in touch with the Wayanad district collectorate, and helping to amplify their disaster recovery efforts. You can help in THREE ways: - make a monetary donation to this fundraising campaign (even a small donation of $1 will help) - you can share this site and fundraising effort with your friends, colleagues and share on social media to raise funds and ask if your company offers 'matching' $$ - Some of the organizations are short of volunteers to act on the ground and you could volunteer or request for volunteers.
All donations will be donated towards the relief and rehabilitation efforts, and sent to these organizations directly by the team. Thank you for your support and may God bless your intentions!
