My World Challenge

Hi. I'm Cara.
These last few years have been a rough journey for my family, and myself. About three and a half years ago my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and as you can imagine it's been a very tough ride. Due to her illness she lost her job, and my dad has been the only provider for our family since then.
Through these years I have personally had a lot to deal with too, with many tough problems thrown at me through school and home life. For the past three years I have been in an extremely dark place and it has driven me to the edge and back too many times to count.
Only recently, because of the World Challenge, have I found a kind of motivation. Which is what I'm raising this money for.
The World Challenge is a four week expedition through Vietnam and Cambodia where a group of us students will be pushed to our limits; having a five day hike through the jungle, living and working with the local communities and surviving as a group for a month.
As part of the challenge, the participants have to raise as much of the money for the fees by ourselves.
So, I have turned to the gofundme community for help. My goal is to raise $5000 by June 2017.
As stated before, becoming part of this challenge has really started to help me leave a dark place in my life. I believe it will help me to grow as a person and finally help me realise that I actually have a place in the world.
