Hey family and friends!
As some of you may already know, I was in the hospital back in February with severe abdominal pain. After an ultrasound was done, they found a fibroid (generally non-cancerous tumor) in my uterus the size of a grapefruit (13cm). Over the course of a few months, and two more ultrasounds, the fibroid has grown to about 15cm and is causing me daily discomfort and exhaustion.
After being told to "wait and see what happens" by my doctor, I decided to get a second opinion. I had help finding the best gynecologist in town and have been paying out of pocket for my visits with him as well as my hematologist (I have a blood disorder and will need him on board for surgery). Thankfully, this new doctor told me what I knew all along - "We need to get this thing out of you." I am so relieved and happy to finally be in good hands that I honestly don't care how much those hands have cost me so far!
My surgery will be a myomectomy which is a c-section type surgery where they will make and incision into my abdomen and then my uterus to remove the tumor while trying to keep my uterus intact. It is a common surgery with a high success rate and I'm confident that after 4 weeks of recovery, I'll be feeling the best I've felt in a long time. I have a lot of confidence in my doctor and actually can't wait to finally feel like myself again.
The surgery has been scheduled for August 10th and I've got three weeks to come up with at least $2200. This does not include what the hospital itself is going to bill me. It's not my favorite feeling to have to write this and ask for help from my friends and family but I just can't realistically come up with it on my own. Every little bit will help so even if you can only give 10 dollars, I will be extremely grateful.
I have 2 - 4 weeks of recovery to look forward to and I plan on sending each contributor a hand written letter of thanks.
Any extra that is raised will go straight to my medical bills.
