Almost 3 years ago our family of 4 moved from Chicago to idyllic Marin County, about 30 minutes north of San Francisco. In that time, we've learned a lot about the area, and seen a growing homeless population in our city of San Rafael. Addy, our 8-year-old philanthropist, has shown an increasing need to help & do something for the homeless, and that's why we are here today.
We're creating survival homeless kits for the people we encounter on the streets. The kits will include the following: toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, tissues, shampoo, deodorant, soap, razor, chapstick, lotion, small first aid kits, sunscreen, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, comb/brush, snacks, socks, hat, scarf & gloves. Addy & her 6-year-old brother, Rowan, compiled the list & are excited to get started.
Each kit will cost about $25-30 & we're hoping to make about 50 kits. If people can donate half of the kit cost around $10-15, we'll get there in no time. We'd like to pass out our kits on Saturday, August 13 before the next school year begins. It's not a lot of time, but hopefully we can reach our goal!
If you live in the area & want to help pass out the kits, the more the merrier! We're so thankful you've taken the time to read our message & hope you're able to help. Thank you!
