The Rabbit Gallery is a not-for-profit student-run pop-up art gallery in downtown Appleton, WI. Our mission is to strengthen the connection between Lawrence University and the Appleton community, while supporting the growth of the downtown and providing new artistic opportunities for both students and the community.
The Rabbit Gallery responds to the needs of the Appleton community. The Rabbit Gallery assists in the revitalization of the downtown by renovating and utilizing vacant storefronts, which provides more traffic through the property and makes the spacs more appealing to potential tenants. Additionally, the Rabbit Gallery allows students to interact extensively with arts professionals and the business community in Appleton, creating professional connections for the students and a positive link between Lawrence and the greater Appleton community. The Rabbit Gallery also provides a much needed location for student and community artists to display and sell their work at a reasonable commission. Finally, the Rabbit Gallery teaches students essential entrepreneurial and business skills in the context of a not-for-profit arts organization. These valuable skills can be obtained only through experience and will be applicable in many contexts as students continue on as artists, art administrators, entrepreneurs, and employees.
