Dear Family and Friends,
How have you been doing? I hope that God is at work in your life as he is in mine. I am having a wonderful year and have been feeling God’s will directing me towards doing more for others in the world around me.
I would like to share with you an amazing opportunity which God has once again given me in order to fulfill this calling. This ministry will be challenging in many ways for me, but I wish to do His will wherever it leads. Gods has called all of us to love and serve Him and to show this by loving and serving others. On June 18 through June 23, I have been offered a chance by God to do just that by going to West Virginia and participating in the Manus Christi mission trip through St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Catholic youth ministry, IGNITE, in York, Pennsylvania. On this week long mission trip, we will be reaching out to the disadvantaged and elderly people as well as anyone else who needs help in the Tygart River Valley. While there, I will be painting, fixing roofs, making ramps for the handicapped, fixing stairs, and visiting people and spreading the love and joy of Christ. I will also spend time in communal prayer experiences and service --- such as cleaning and repairs --- at the camp which we will stay at.
Not only has Christ given me this great opportunity to serve and opened a door to giving myself and my time to others, He has also provided you with a similar opportunity. God has lead me to a way which I will be able to develop a heart even more full of compassion and love for His people and I want to share this gift with you. I ask first and foremost that you pray for me and my fellow peers who will be going on this trip this summer. We are in a special need for prayers that God will enlighten us in our struggle to help His people and to prepare us for this visit. We also ask that God will bless our efforts and the people we will serve as we minister to the people of West Virginia. One other thing which we ask for you to include in your prayers is for our financial needs to be met. Each of the youths including me needs to raise $500.00 individually in order for this mission to be carried out. This will include the cost of travel, meals, lodging, building supplies, tools, and much more. Any amount which we receive in excess of the $500.00 will be donated to the Bishop Hodges Pastoral Center in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston to cover the cost of additional materials, tools, and supplies for the projects we will be working on during our week long stay at the Manus Christi work sites.
Another way you can support me besides you prayers is through providing financial support. Would you please consider supporting me? Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help my cause greatly. I need to collect all donations by May 1, 2017 in order to pay my total balance of $500.00 in time. I have included a return envelope for you to use if you feel led to contribute financially. Please make all checks payable to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Whether the Lord compels you to support me financially, through prayer, or both, all of your effort is extremely appreciated.
By the grace of God, I am going on this mission trip and will be able to do His will for me in my life, serving Him through the service of others. I look forward to doing all that God has sent me to do in West Virginia this summer. On my return, I will be letting you know all about my trip and how God has worked in my life and in the lives of my team. I am constantly praying for you and wish for you to know of my love for you.
