Back in april, Aubrey started complaining that her knee was hurting. For a few weeks we assumed it was growing or softball related. Into may if progressively worsened so we took her to the doctor. They thought it was something with her tibial tuberosity and referred us to orthopedics to look further. We made and appointment at Shriners but while waiting it got to where she couldn’t sleep at night. She would either be unable to fall asleep or the pain would wake her. We took her to the er and they did blood work and X-ray and said things were fine, possibly tendon related. Went to shriners where they did a bunch of scans and ordered her an mri. Because of insurance the mri couldn’t happen for over a week. Pain intensified so we took her back to the er hoping for them to do an mri manage her pain or something. They looked her over and told me she’s okay, wait the week and a half for the mri and give her Tylenol. Well the next day we saw the color changing in her leg and she was unable to finish softball that night. This is still over a week from when they will do an mri. So I decided to take her to Tampa to Saint Joseph Children’s hospital.  We got there after midnight and they were hesitant because they didn’t know what to do so they asked me what I want them to do. I told them to check her leg and tell me she’s not going to lose it while I wait for an mri. They took her to ultrasound. They quickly moved us up to the hematology/oncology floor. They said she had a large blood clot in her femoral artery and needed to start blood thinners and find out why. Long story short, she had a mass growing in her pelvis and compressing her artery. They did 2 mri, a ct scan and a pet scan. It has spread to her lungs, lymph nodes and a couple other places could possibly have it. There are lesions on her thigh, and rib, that may be unrelated. They did a biopsy under radiology intervention. That came back as stage 4 intermediate risk embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. We don’t like to think about statistics but it has a 50-70% survival, with 35% chance of returning. But we have an army behind us and God carrying us. We just know our sweet child, who has always wanted to be a children’s pastor, will LIVE and tell her testimony to glorify God!  Meanwhile, I am a stay at home mom and dad, Rob, has made the hard decision to take an unpaid leave of absence from his job to spend every moment possible caring for and making irreplaceable memories with our baby. While dealing with this awful diagnoses, a parent shouldn’t have to make this decision, but they do. We have already been blessed by so many but decided to make this go fund me because so many use this as means of donation and trust it more than others were using.  Aubrey to date has finished 2 rounds of chemo. We’re facing 66 weeks of treatment including many cycles of chemo. Starting week 13 we are scheduled for 40 rounds of direct beam radiation. It’s only a 45 min drive but daily, is hard and comes with a hefty price.  We know God will not let us fall during this fight. He has showed us multiple times how good he is. The blood clot is gone, 13 weeks before it should’ve been. Doctors cannot explain that, but we can. Pain in her knee is gone, 3 weeks earlier than it should’ve been. Also “unexplainable” but we can explain it! Prayers are greatly appreciated, we know the power they have. So even if you aren’t able to donate, please share this story.
