St. Michael Medals for Police

My name is Liza V. & I am a 21 yr old college student majoring in Criminology from Houston, TX. Let me begin with how this all all started. After the tragedies against law enforcement- I was angry, sad & had the overwhelming sense that I should let our police officers know how much they are appreciated. I decided that I wanted to get Saint Michael medals, have them blessed & hand them out to officers I saw. Saint Michael the archangel is protector of law enforcement & I wanted them to carry this close to their heart as protection during these especially dangerous times. Even if they weren't Catholic, my hope was that it would symbolize that people in the community had their back & were praying for them. So I went to the Catholic bookstore  & bought $20 worth of medals which were promptly gone within 24 hrs.  After a 2nd trip & another $20 worth of medals, my church asked what I was doing with these. Once I explained, the church loved the idea so much & wanted me to continue  with their support. This is when the idea really took off further than I initially expected. My church offered to buy in bulk & provide 100 medals for me to give out. From that point forward & through word of mouth this idea became my mission. Which was to provide all Houston's law enforcement with a medal then eventually continue on to the rest of Texas.... maybe even the country. First things first though & that is to start here at home. After 3 interviews with local news stations who caught on to my mission, I have been overwhelmed with the support from family, friends & strangers who all want to help by donating, putting the ribbon on or handing them out. These are now being ordered in bulk & we are able to get them for 20 cents a piece while the blue ribbon to attach them is $2.99 for 16ft.  Since there is no way for me to fund these on my own, I am appealing to the community to help me continue this mission. Every police officer I have met this far has been so grateful for the support. I will provide regular updates & pictures so that you can follow along with me as we say thank you to these brave men + women for all they do.
