At the time I didn't know it but growing up I was one lucky kid. I took so much for granted... Far to many kids don't grown up in a household that has access too "healthy" food. I'm not talking super fancy, organically grown local produce. I'm talking the bare minimum. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Lettuce. Apples. Summer tomatoes. Things that were a daily occurrence on our dinner table. Things that shouldn't only come from
a can. Things that should be a standard, not a privilege.
Arcadia's summer program brings kids right to the source. They spend a week on a farm eating healthy food, (some of which is prepared by yours truly,) raising chickens and doing fun farm projects. $300 is all it costs for a full week of food, learning and fun but to any child in a low income household this could never be a reality. And those are the kids that need it most.
I'm asking for you to help me get 4 kids full scholarships to the Summer Food Camp. Who knows... You could be helping a future farmer, teacher, doctor or president get their first shot at changing their future!!!! I truly believe it starts here.
My husband Kyle and I are both chefs and know the importance of getting these kids on the right track. We are personally sponsoring one child and hope that you decide to chip in to make this a reality for 4 others. I am not usually one to ask for money BUT I think this is a worthwhile cause. With all the frivolous things we spend money on every day a few bucks here is a small way to contribute to the future of our world.
