Hi everyone I am fundraising for my brother Ralph who is only 47 years old who had a fight for life situation. Back in the year 2007 he was diagnosed with Scleroderma as well as Pulmonary Hypertension. The duration of this illness is 10 to 15 years. The years we’re coming to a close when his lungs were starting to decline. He was in and out of the hospital with his lungs collapsing in May of 2020. In August he was told that he needed a double lung transplant or he wasn’t going to survive. His last trip to the hospital for a collapsed lung was when there was no time to waste. He need to be Med Flighted to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Leaving his 3 young boys and wife behind. He was placed on life support and in hoping that a set of lungs came in. He could only be placed on life support for 25 days and he met that point. At the end of the 25 days he went into cardiac arrest. They brought him back and the next day changed it all. With Prayers, the day came that his new set of lungs were a match for him on September 23, 2020. Getting adjusted to his new lungs he caught pneumonia multiple times and fought through COVID. He got many complications from the surgery and was bed ridden for 8 months and because of that he ended up with nerve damage, no muscle mass, and is very weak. He had to learn how to eat, talk and sit up again. He still is unable to walk. It is a very long recovery. He is now in rehab learning how to walk again and the insurance is only covering 2 more weeks of rehabilitation and will be sending him home to do his own out of pocket cost for outpatient therapy which medical will not cover. This is why I am reaching out to everyone in hopes that my brother can come home and spend time with his kids and family and get the help he needs to walk again.
