Justice for Matthew Zadok Williams

Donation protected

My son, Mattew Zadok Williams was killed on April 12th, 2021 when he was having an acute mental health crisis. He was only 35 years old. We are devastated and there has been no accountability. Also the false narrative from the DCPD of who Zadok was and how he died continues to linger. No one should have died that day. No one! Why is it that our mentally ill love ones are still 16 times more likely to be killed by the police. It’s even worse in Dekalb County Georgia, because approximately 60% of all police encounters involve the mentally ill. With the unwillingness to properly fund training of officers, and provide adequate mental health professionals as first responders, the mentally ill are treated as criminals and are at high risk of death. This is outrageous!!! It has devastated myself and my entire family.

We are in phase III of the fight for justice and continue to demand full accountability and a change. Until, police leadership are willing to hold themselves and rogue cops accountable, only more innocent mentally ill lives will tragically end at the hands of dangerous substandard policing. We have the support of the Dekalb County SCLC, Color of change, The Aster Project, Black Lives Matter, Black Futurist Group, and many more activists, community leaders, and citizens. Join us in the fight for accountability and a change. Thank you.

I am originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, currently residing in Lithonia, Georgia, and I am the mother of my late beloved son, Matthew Zadok Williams. I will be the recipient of this fundraiser.  I will be using these funds/donations to pay for my son, Matthew Zadok Williams,  legal, social justice, community organizing efforts, and expenses related to the unlawful killing of my son and to creating a change that will result in safe policing of our mentally Ill.

Matthew "Zadok" Williams was a son, brother, uncle, cousin, and a 35 year old responsible man who never had the opportunity to marry, have children, and grow old.  Zadok would not kill an insect.  That's how gentle he was.  He was shot in his own home. The media has portrayed him as a “knife welding man” but now that we have finally gotten the body cam video, it reveals otherwise and even reveals the officer admitting that Zadok did not lunge at him with a knife. Why did Zadok have to die?

Our Zadok was beautiful. He was a home owner. An avid reader. An activist. A humanitarian. A pacifist. He was full of life and love so exuberant that he radiated. He was the only boy out of 6 children and we cherished every moment with him. My late husband and I, deligently prayed for 10 years to have a boy. He was treasured by all of us.  My family is devastated by this lost. Our lives will never be the same. I could never have imagined that my son, Zadok whose name means righteousness and justice, would become a #.  Justice for Zadok.

No one deserves to be killed like this. It must stop. We deserve to be safe in our own homes. Please share this post. We are seeking your support in our pursuit for justice and change.   Anything will help.  #JusticeForZadok #JusticeForMatthewZadok

Fighting for Zadok's Justice has been nearly a full-time job for Zadok's family as well as a
financial hardship.

This Gofundme will assist us with expenses related to our fight for Zadok's Justice as we seek to spread awareness about his murder and organize events, including mural planning, community organizing, travel expenses, marketing expenses, and legal expenses.  We thank the community in advance for their generosity in helping us fight for justice.
