Thom Bresh-Cancer Treatment

Dear Family, Friends and Fans of Thom Bresh,

Last week, after a few months of finding it harder and harder to swallow, Thom became concerned and met with his primary care physician where he was diagnosed with esophagus cancer. It’s in a very late aggressive stage and needs to start treatment immediately to remove two malignant tumors, one being the size of an orange. This operation is very important to his survival and with your help, together we can beat this. As we all know, hospital care is extremely expensive so I’m reaching out to anyone who may be willing to offer charitably.

The doctor’s first plan of attack starts on Tuesday, June 29th for an MRI and a radiation treatment to reduce the size of the tumors making them operable. As far as Thom’s wishes, that will be the extent of anything chemo related. He has decided after surgery to commit to holistic healing in Mexico where a mutual friend of ours just beat stage 4 throat cancer. Being that chemotherapy is not only a financial nightmare, it is extremely toxic and this decision is justified to him. It’s less expensive than American treatment, the survival rate is the same if not greater and it won’t leave his already tired body poisoned and lethargic.

For any of you that don’t know the legend of Thom Bresh, he’s been an entertainer his entire life. Playing in Vegas professionally at the age of 15 and the list just goes on from there. Being the biological son of the late great Merle Travis, performing is truly in his bloodline and he has become one of the greatest thumbpickers this world will ever know, landing him a place in the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame twice. He was a regular on prime time television in the 70’s as a musician, comedian and an impersonator for shows like Dinah Shore, Merv Griffin, Barbara Mandrell and ended up with his own variety show with the very talented Lane Brody “The Thom & Lane Show”. He’s had three record deals, and was nominated for the two Grammies and an Academy Award. Thom has played side by side  and recorded with guitar virtuosos such as Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Buster B. Jones and Tommy Emmanuel…just to name a few.

Thom Bresh is not only a National Treasure but has been a dear friend of my family for over 15 years and I don’t want to lose him if there’s a chance that he can defeat this disease.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for considering a donation to the man, the myth, the legend Thom Bresh.
